Marshall County Emergency Operations Center Update, December 23, 2021

Benton, KY (Dec. 23, 2021) The Emergency Operations Center in Marshall County is
coordinating a multi-agency response to the catastrophic tornado that caused major damage in
Marshall County.

All information about ongoing efforts coordinated by the EOC will be posted on the Marshall
County Fiscal Court and Marshall County Emergency Management Facebook pages.

Displaced Individuals in Marshall County
According to the American Red Cross, there are currently 1,128 displaced individuals living in congregate shelters in Kentucky as a result of the tornado. Of that state-wide total, 413 are currently being housed in Marshall County, which is more than any other county state wide. These numbers do not include those staying with family/friends.

Marshall County Emergency Relief Hotline
Residents can request assistance through the Marshall County Tornado Relief Hotline at
270-527-8657. Community members should use the hotline for help if they do not have food,
water, tarps, generators, blankets, or other essential items. The hotline is operated from 8:00
a.m. – 4:30 p.m. After hours voicemails are also monitored. Please use 911 for emergencies.

The hotline will not be answered Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but messages will
be monitored. Anyone in need of immediate assistance on these days should follow the
instructions given on the pre-recorded hotline message and someone will be in contact
with them.

Supply Distribution Location
The Point of Distribution location (POD) will offer pick-up for basic materials to supply families
and individuals with enough food, water and essentials for approximately three days. Hours for
this location will be Dec 24th 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, Dec 25th 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Dec 26th 12:00
pm- 4:00 pm, Monday – Saturday will resume normal hours of 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Supply Donation and Drop Off Location
Please call 270-527-8657 to schedule drop offs. The warehouse will be closed Christmas Eve
and Christmas Day.

Volunteer Check-In
Volunteers should check in at the Mike Miller Park Visitor Center located at 596 US Hwy 68 W,
Benton, KY 42025 from 7:00 am – 2:00pm. The volunteer check in will be closed Christmas Eve
and Christmas Day.

Asbestos Ordinance
Several insurance companies are asking homeowners if the county has an ordinance regarding
asbestos. Marshall County does not have such an ordinance in place.
